“You have to take your hat off for the uncompromising approach of Egeværk. Design duo Mette Bentzen and Lasse Kristensen sometimes boil wood for a really long time, and they geek out with planes, fire, sanding paper and a lot of elbow grease in their tireless effort to find the substance of wood. They experiment like crazy, and their works are the most visionary we have seen for many years; nothing less than internationally praised works of arts and handcrafted furniture of the first water. Besides that, Egeværk hits a nerve in these times, where we on the one hand take to nature and rediscover our love of wood and its endless possibilities, and other the other hand long for imaginative universes to loosen ourselves in when climate change and COVID-19 seem overwhelming.”
