"Bjørn Friborg is a hybrid. He is the man who will revive the Danish tradition of glass
at Holmegaard Værk. But he is also one of Denmark's best kept secrets, while he
is internationally recognized for his own glass art" - wrote journalist Julie Moestrup

Stretched Black Diamond, Little Fold #4 and Bridge in Green
Height 9 cm - 46 cm.

"With a material such as glass, we often expect it to be transparent, hard and sharp, but when the internationally renowned artist, Maria Bang Espersen, creates works of art, it often happens with an interest in precisely disrupting those expectations. She is interested in the many different properties of glass - both the well-known, but also its opposites, which only a few know about. She researches and experiments with glass to gain an understanding of what the material can do and what new possibilities exist. The experiment is the focal point of each new project.

One of Espersen's techniques is about making glass appear soft despite its physique as a massive, hard mass. While the glass is hot, she stretches and folds it as if it were a candy mass with the help of a whole team of glassblowers. The result sometimes looks like silk, other times plastic, but rarely does it look like glass".

FLUID

Handcast resin and copper. Dimensions H. 77 cm, H. seat 37 cm, W. 105 cm D. 100 cm.

"FLUID stands and glows and just as the sea always reflects the light of
the sky, FLUID is in constant change, it captures the light from its
surroundings and reflects it.
When we look at it, it's a little hard to understand that we've created it. It is as if it now has its own life, that it itself has risen from the sea or the land from space. FLUID has for us been the most difficult project of them all, we were led out into deep water by the judges when they said we must not make stolen from wood. But how happy we are for FLUID, and for the fact that we managed to go after the wildest idea and find the way forward despite lack of time and experience with the material" - they say at Egeværk.

Very best,

Claus Montan
